Meet Our Team
We’ve handpicked a like minded and fantastically talented team to create something unique and very special in the area:
Veterinary Surgeons
Aidan Borrill MAVetMB MRCVS
Veterinary Surgeon, Director & Owner
Aidan can’t remember ever not wanting to be a vet and these days can’t imagine doing anything else. He loves every element of the job, in particular the variety where one minute he can be doing a health check on a puppy and the next performing life saving surgery on a cat.
A Yorkshireman through and through Aidan enjoys the James Herriott approach to veterinary practice; getting to know what his patients and owners are up to day to day. A particularly favourite topic is pet friendly holiday destinations.
By forming lasting relationships Aidan is able to provide honest, down to earth advice on the best treatment plan going forward, as every pet and family are different and require a unique approach.
Natalie Borrill MaVetMB MRCVS
Director, Owner & Vet
Kate Lord
Veterinary Surgeon
Kate joined the team in 2021 and has been a veterinary surgeon for over 20 years.
Kate has a further qualification in veterinary ophthalmology (treatment of eyes) but enjoys all aspects of veterinary practice and is our cat friendly clinic advocate. She loves cats and has two awesome boys herself named Bugg and Terry!
Since joining Ferndown Family Vets, Kate has particularly enjoyed being equipped with a treat pouch and a tube of cheese as she does enjoy giving lots of positive reinforcement to your lovely fur babies (part of the fear free approach).
Katie Baker
Veterinary Surgeon
Katie joined Ferndown Family Vets in 2022 and has 18 years of experience as a small animal vet with 14 years performing Acupuncture.
Katie has a particular interest in rehabilitative medicine and was the first vet in the area to treat her own dog with pioneering stem cell therapy which can now be offered to other dogs with osteoarthritis and joint conditions.
Outside of work Katie loves spending time with her family, dog walking, horse riding and anything nature or animal related.
Jordan Terry
Veterinary Surgeon
Jordan joined the team at Ferndown Family Vets in 2022 after deciding to make the move from the Midlands to sunny Dorset.
With 4 years experience in small animal practice, Jordan has grown to love all aspects of life as a vet, but mostly relishes getting to know his patients and making their visit to the vets as enjoyable as possible. During his time in practice, Jordan has developed a particular interest in dentistry, where he has undertaken some further training.
Veterinary Nurses
Kate
Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Kate has worked as a nurse for 18 years in both first opinion and referral practice, including working with Noel Fitzpatrick. She has a soft spot for staffies and has worked with the RSPCA.
Sammie
Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Sammie has worked as a qualified Registered Veterinary Nurse since graduating in 2014 in both first opinion and referral practices. She has an interest in nutrition, improving clinical standards, anaesthetics and nurse clinic consults.
She is a mum to two small humans, a rescue black cat called Luna (tic) and a crazy Springer x Labrador puppy called Bailey who she does gundog training with!
Natasha
Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Natasha has been working in veterinary practice since 2014 in the local area. Her gentle approach is very effective at keeping our patients at ease.
Natasha enjoys spending her free time with her dog Nova and creating beautiful cakes. She was the creator of our amazing 1 year anniversary cake.
Kelly
Qualified Veterinary Nurse
Kelly joined us in November 2022 and is really enjoying meeting our lovely patients (along with their human counterparts!). Kelly’s nursing career started 20 years ago in Norfolk where she gained valuable experience at a variety of small animal practices. She loves nursing patients back to health and making their stay with us as lovely as possible. Outside of work you might see Kelly running and cycling.
Autumn
Animal Nursing Assistant
Autumn joined the team in 2022. Having previously crossed paths with Aidan whilst locumming during lockdown it was clear Autumn had a natural affinity with all animals and rapidly helps them feel at ease.
Customer Care Assistants
Debs
Customer Care Assistant
Debs, like you, is a pet parent and is always ready with a smile to meet and greet you. She has been the proud owner of lhasa apsos, cockapoos, and now a beautiful whippet called Pixie. She has a wealth of knowledge to share and knows how it feels when you have to consider a referral for your fur baby. Debs is also Aidan’s mum in law!
Amy
Customer Care Assistant
Amy started working at Ferndown Family Vets in 2022 and loves to meet & greet all our lovely patients and their owners! When she’s not offering treats to your furry friends she enjoys spending time with her own 3 dogs, Ralph, Flossy & Cookie!
Jo
Customer Care Assistant
Jo began working at Ferndown Family Vets during 2022 and is looking forward to meeting you and welcoming your pets armed with her treat pouch! She currently owns 2 beautiful black moggies adopted 9 years ago and 2 rescued Guinea pigs. In the past she has owned a menagerie of hamsters, ferrets, rabbits, dogs and tropical fish. Jo is a keen bird and nature watcher. She enjoys walking and trying to keep fit.
Kelly
Customer Care Assistant
Kelly joined the team in August 2022. Kelly has Barney, a Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, a French Scent Hound. Kelly was warned that a Scent Hound would have selective hearing and can be mischievous to which Kelly replied just like her two children! Barney fits perfectly into the family going on lots of walks and camping.
Ruby
Customer Care Assistant
Ruby has just joined the team part time as she also works for a local integrative vet. She is also a qualified small animal hydrotherapist. To say Ruby is obsessed with her labradoodle Teddy is an understatement and when she’s not working she is always either at the beach or in the forest with Teddy. Ruby has always had such a strong passion for animals and is very excited to welcome all your lovely pets to the practice.
Cheryl
Bookkeeper and Accounts
Cheryl is integral to ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes and looks after the veterinary practice administration.
You may occasionally find her answering the phone too when the other members of the team are busy looking after patients.
